Sprucing up downtown Pittsboro

Pittsboro, NC - We really need a overhaul of the downtown area to make it aesthetically pleasing for people to come i.e., more shopping. We have vacant stores that get replaced by either insurance companies, real estate offices or mortgage companies.

The sidewalks need to be swept and maybe some plantings put around the circle etc. The shopping center that Lowes grocery is located in really needs a overhaul. It is dirty and not kept up. Who owns that shopping center? They should be made to clean it up. The Food Lion shopping center is much cleaner to shop at.

I want to spend my hard earned money where I live, not in another town. I do not oppose shopping centers near where I live. I would like to see small boutique type of shops. I am thankful for Chatham Marketplace. It is a wonderful concept. But the Mayor needs to look at other small towns and their downtown area.

Apex has wonderful shops and their area is well kept up. Cheery store fronts that are nice and clean and very appealing to shop at.

That is what I would like to envision for Pittsboro. Not vacant stores.

Thank you,
Ace, Pittsboro
