Pittsboro, NC - For those who would also like to know where to find old county newspapers the Chatham Community Library in Pittsboro has microfilmed issues of the Chatham Record dating back to 1879 (with some gaps).

You are welcome to explore the collection, which is housed in the Local History & Genealogy section. Our microfilm collection not only contains local newspapers through 2010, but also tax scrolls, records of estates, wills, and more. A member of the reference staff will be happy to help you find what you’re looking for.

If you’re looking for a newspaper article from a specific date, you may want to call 545-8086 to make sure we have the issue you need.

Dana Haven is the reference librarian at the Chatham Community Library
