Too many kids at Northwood

Pittsboro, NC - Current and future Chathamites;

With the only the old figures to go by, posted on the bulletin board, I would urge you to find any alternative to sending your kids to Northwood.

It is simply too crowded and they will not get what they need in a Precalc class of 32 or a Spanish class of 30+. It's not going to get any better.

I've tried, since my kids have been there, to put aside the negative. But this isn't about clean facilities or computers or gadgets. This is about numbers. Numbers the Board of Education has been presented with over and over and over and yet the numbers below speak for themselves and they are over a year old now. It's not getting better, no, it will get worse before it improves.

Improvements to the cafeteria and gym are coming but that doesn't do anything to address class size.

So, sign up for Woods, Cary Academy gives scholarships (not that hard to get if you play a sport), Cardinal Gibbons, rent an apartment in Carrboro, homeschool, Chatham Central (taking transfers) Whatever you can do. But don't think these overcrowded Northwood classrooms do not effect the quality of your childs education.

If I had a high school aged child, I would definitely not buy a home in North Chatham until after the new high school is built.
