Moncure, NC - I just did this with a friend and recommend it to all. My friend and I told each other what we were thankful for. It got pretty philosophical at times (maybe it was the heat), but was a worthwhile exercise and helped put into perspective many community issues.
Here is my list.
I am thankful for the following.
My life.
My children.
My parents and siblings and all other members of my family.
Clean water.
My home (which I intend to keep, no roommates needed)
My air conditioning unit
My air conditioning repair person (L&M Heating and Air, YOU ROCK!)
My new refridgerator and washer/dryer (Lowes, you were open and issued me credit)
Ellen
Sue (who refuses to join this chatlist)
CCCC
Lyle, Tami,Tina, Hal, Billy, Kathy, Cheryl et al.
Paula, Zachary and Orie (your pretty sisters as well, stop giving them flak)
My vehicles (more of a codependent relationship)
The people who hang out in front of Family Dollar (you always nod or wave back)
Hippies
Canadians
Shakori
Silk Hope
Crotchety old men (you make me laugh)
Irate people of all sizes (you make me think)
Subway
General Tso’s Chicken
Organic Food
The Chatham Marketplace
The General Store Cafe’
S&T’ s
First Sunday
The Haw, The Deep, The Rocky river(s)
kayaks
Gabriel’s Bend
rocks

The Chatham County Animal Shelter
Kind, but meaningful advice from animal lovers
Democracy
The Constitution of the United States of America

Love
Safety
Kindness

The Universe
Try this yourself. It helps.
Oh, and can we be nice? It is so easy. I will strive to do so as well. Sorry if I have been caustic or adversarial in the past. I am passionate but wish to keep the tone of my life as peaceful as possible now. We all need that.
One more thing. Spell check, edit, rethink, reword. Language is so much more useful when it is used well (grammar?). Kind words are better than acrimony. Understanding and compassion are better than intolerance and hate. Love is better than war. Use the good words and the good times will roll with abandon.
