Pittsboro, NC - Congratulations Vance! You are finally accomplishing what several others have wanted to do, tried to do, but unfortunately were unsuccessful in doing. I have a friend, landscaper, nursery owner who was even willing to bring his band and do a benefit in that same parking lot in order to raise money to save this grand American Holly, perhaps the largest on the east coast ?? The US ??

Yours is truly a worthy effort.

I realize that you have been inching along, thinking on, preparing for this for a while; I believe with the help of one very talented plant person. Congratulations to all who are on, and or can come on board. That Holly is well worth saving. I will do what I can to help. Can you imagine what it would look at night if some lights were put on as decoration; especially at Christmas. Pittsboro's
small park is an excellent idea. Another excellent idea is a second well marked cross walk & more signs warning of pedestrian traffic between the parking lot and the Café.

As for your (and Joyce's) / our General Store Café, we may kid you now and then, but it be just fine. Those of us who frequent (live there) appreciate what you and your partners have done for Pittsboro, it's commerce and well being. And what you & Joyce do for artists in Chatham.

And yes ! I miss the old bridge on 15-501 over the Haw. Going north I could look on & appreciate the rocks & the even older Bynum bridge. On the way south it was the dam. A lovely sight in both directions; now pretty much lost to "progress". Don't let progress take the tree Vance. There are a lot of people behind you; hopefully including the Coop. Extension Service
