Pittsboro, NC - Seventy-eight newly engraved pavers were installed on the Chatham Community Library sidewalk and plaza on Friday morning, April 6, 2012. Go and take a look, and start planning what you'd like your future paver to say.

The Friends of the Chatham Community Library want to thank all of the Chatlist readers and Friends members who purchased an engraved paver in support of the Library. And thanks to you, Gene Galin, for making the Chatlist happen!

Just a word about the Friends. We raise money on a continuing basis to support the Library and library programs. The Friends sponsor two book sales every year, raising over $30,000 annually. The spring sale was just concluded this past weekend. Please consider donating unneeded books to the Friends for future book sales donations accepted at the Library.

The Friends have now held two sales of engraved pavers. When the Library opened, the Friends sold and installed 120 pavers. This year, the Friends sold an additional 78 pavers, raising over $7,000 for the Library. We expect to have an additional paver sale in a couple of years. If you are interested in a future paver, please let me know at, or leave your name and contact information with the staff at the Library circulation desk.

The Chatham Community Library is a wonderful resource for the people of Pittsboro and Chatham County. It has special programs for children and young readers. It has special programs for adults. It has public computers. It has great staff. It has almost everything. Shared by the community and the Central Carolina Community College, it plays a key role in our economic, social and cultural lives.

Check out the pavers next time you visit the Library, a facility we can all agree is first rate. If you would like to join the Friends, more information is available at:
