DOT doesn't get NC 87 right

NC 87 is quite dangerous.

I know there is the big problem of the DOT planning to add more roads here, but there is another problem with the DOT and their roads.

I wonder if anyone can enlighten me in reference to the repaving of 87N a year or two ago where they did not bother to make the road wide enough for big trucks and did not make any shoulder. This is a big concern of mine and I wonder if the problem has been addressed in any way. This road is quite dangerous with the soft shoulder and nowhere to go if you have to move over. There have been three (I think) fatal accidents on this stretch of road and I wonder if the huge "lip" where big trucks keep going off the road had anything to do with these accidents.

Every time I drive on that highway I see fresh deep gouges where another logging truck has driven off the road onto the soft shoulder and made another trap for a driver, should he/she happen to misjudge the edge. Every so often you see a crew raking the shoulder to repair the ruts.

This highway needs to be properly fixed to be safe.
