Silk Hope, NC - Steve Candelori asks, "Why shouldn't we have Voting by District?"

I have a few questions of my own!

Do you really want to reduce your options from 5 to 1? Do you really want to have only ONE vote for county commissioner, every FOUR years? Do you really want to see "pork-barrel" politics here at the local level?

As it is now, every two years we all get to choose two or three county commissoners, from among ~60,000 citizens. Under the proposed system, you will have only one choice, every four years, from among the 3,000 to 5,000 people who live in your district. Do you really want fewer choices in your elected government? Do you really want to see horse-trading and personal political interests dominate local government spending?

If you want LESS options, vote yes on Nov 7. If you want MORE waste in government, vote yes on Nov 7. If you want a return to the narrow, parochial, backwards county commissioner system we got rid of 30 years ago, vote yes on Nov 7.

I believe the great majority of Chatham County's challenges and problems are county-wide in nature. If you agree, then vote to keep county-wide elections: Vote NO on the Referendum.
