We cancelled our satellite service and are watching over the air HDTV

Pittsboro, NC - This is in response to the Chatham Chatlist conversations regarding digital tv conversion. My husband made his own antenna for about $5 that he put in our attic. It is working wonderfully with our LCD HDTV and an older TV with the converter box.

We cancelled our satellite service and are saving so much. It was well worth purchasing a digital dtvpal dvr at www.dtvpal.com so we can record our shows. The kids miss some Disney shows, but there are a ton of great shows on UNC/PBS. I miss the Food Network and my husband doesn't get his fill of HGTV, but WUNC has a lot of great things to fill the void. We get CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, a few other channels too.

Your reception will depend on how many obstructions are in the way (trees) and how low or high your house is positioned.

Type "make your own digital TV antenna" into Google and you can see a ton of videos on how to do it yourself.
