Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s ICE team arrested a Sanford man on felony drug charges after a traffic stop was conducted on Hwy 42 and Corinth Road near Moncure. Officers seized more than 30 grams of cocaine and $1,100.00 in cash. The traffic stop resulted in an on-going investigation that lead to the suspect’s residence in Sanford where another 30 grams of cocaine was found along with five weapons, a bullet proof vest and digital scales. Total street value of the drugs is $2,000.

Bernardo Gonzalez Sanchez

Bernardo Gonzalez Sanchez 33, of 1302 Woodland Avenue, Sanford was arrested without incident and charged with Felonious Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Felonious Trafficking Cocaine, Felonious Maintaining a Vehicle for Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $10,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Pittsboro District court on June 15.
