Chatham County, NC - The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover alcohol violations operation across Chatham County last week and out of 9 stores, 4 sold alcohol to an under aged person. In Northern Chatham County, all three stores sold alcohol to a 20-year-old minor during the operation.
Persons working at the The Pantry, Petro Mart and the ABC Store in Cole Park Plaza were cited for these violations. On an encouraging note, only one store out of 5 in the Siler City area sold to an under aged person. A clerk of the Kangaroo Convenient Store on East 11th Street in Siler City was cited.
“Although any number is too high, I was glad that 5 out of the 9 stores refused to sell alcohol to an under aged person and took the correct measures to get identification” , Sheriff Webster said. “If anyone in the community suspects this kind of activity is being done in your area, contact the Sheriff’s Office. We will conduct similar operations in the future,”
