Siler City, NC - Siler City police arrested a man Tuesday they say stabbed and killed another during an altercation on a local footpath over the weekend.
Harold Kenneth Alston, 53, of 506 Womble St., Siler City, was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing of Kelly Gene Martin, 39, of 1002 13th St., Siler City, on Sunday afternoon.
Detective Shorty Johnson said Alston stabbed Martin once in the chest with a 4-inch blade kitchen knife on a local footpath near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, apparently after an argument.
Alston turned himself in and as of Wednesday afternoon was being held in the Chatham County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
