Siler City, NC - A Siler City native was arrested on Wednesday for failing to register as a sex offender. Larry Fout, 49, formerly of 1715 Wrenn Smith Road, Siler City was arrested by Chatham County Sheriff’s Deputy Rickard Bourke after he turned himself in to authorities.

Under law, defendants convicted of sex offenses are required to register with the Sheriff of the county that they reside in. Failing to register as a sex offender or failing to disclose a sex offender’s address is a felony and is punishable up to 4 years in prison.

Fout moved to Maryland more than a year ago and did not let the Sheriff’s Office know of his whereabouts. Sheriff’s Deputies contacted him last week when they found out where he was living. Fout drove to Chatham County yesterday and was arrested without incident.

He was jailed under no bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on August 24.
