Pittsboro, NC - Last week, Chatham County Sheriff Richard Webster accepted an award of grateful recognition for the Sheriff’s Office’s involvement in the Ride For Kids® campaign that was conducted on May 15. The non-profit foundation which operates the Ride For Kids® events across America is the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States. In 2000, the Foundation redoubled its efforts to expand its programs across the country and invites every motorcyclist in America to join in this very needed, and always fun event. This event raised more than $40,000.00.

The Ride For Kids® is a motorcyclist’s program that is helping to find the cause and cure of pediatric brain tumors. The Ride For Kids® also serves as a nationally recognized educational and patient support program for patients and their families, and the medical community. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were placed at different intersections of the county to assist riders so they could move safely throughout the area.

The Sheriff graciously accepted the award and a letter from Mark Muhlenfeld of the National Ride For Kids® program. “The Sheriff’s Office is always glad to help any organization with efforts like this”, the Sheriff said. “I hope that more money will be raised next year for this very worthy cause”.
