Pittsboro, NC - A Pittsboro man has been charged with five counts of felonious statutory rape after he was accused of having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
Chatham County Sheriff’s deputies received information from a family member of the girl Sunday afternoon that she had been sexually assaulted by Mauro Gilberto Delgado-Perez, 30, of 225 Masonic Street.
Delgado-Perez turned himself in to authorities later that day and was cooperative with investigators, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. Delgado-Perez was jailed under a $750,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 27.
