After a traffic stop was conducted by the Motor Carrier Enforcement Division of the State Highway Patrol, agents of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit were called to assist in a drug investigation of Guy Grady Sanders Jr., 22, of 215 Churchwood Lane in Pittsboro. Motor Carrier Enforcement officer Sean Cleary was patrolling the Pittsboro area when he met a 1986 Chevrolet Caprice traveling at a high rate of speed. He stopped the vehicle, which was driven by Sanders on Johnston Street in Pittsboro around midnight and suspected that he was in possession of marijuana. He requested the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office and Agents of the Narcotics unit responded and found that Sanders was in possession of over a half pound of marijuana and $1051.00 in cash.

Agents of the Sheriff’s Office seized the drugs, money and Sanders’ vehicle. He was arrested and charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana and Felony Maintaining a Vehicle for the Transportation of Controlled Substances. His court date is May 12.
