Pittsboro, NC - Chatham County Deputies investigated a report of a stolen vehicle on January 28 that was reported by Robert Dunn of Dunn’s Wrecker Service. The vehicle was discovered stolen by the owner and other employees of the business when they came to the workplace and saw a black male pushing a vehicle away from the sight.

That vehicle was recovered but the subject ran away and deputies were called. Employees stated that another vehicle appeared to be missing from the site and it was listed as stolen. Deputies contacted local scrap dealers in the area and found that one of the dealers bought the car earlier in the week from two black males and a black female. By the time the vehicle was reported stolen, the vehicle was already scrapped and no longer salvageable.

Deputy Charles Taylor arrested a suspect last week who was later identified as William Samuel Rodgers, 41, of 2662 Silk Hope Gum Springs Road, Pittsboro. He is charged with Felonious Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Felonious Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, First Degree Trespassing and Damage to Property.

He was released under a $7,500 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on June 28.
