Siler City man arrested for stealing vehicle

Siler City, NC - On July 7, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Siler City man for possession of a stolen vehicle.

On April 20, deputies recovered a stolen 1995 Kawasaki motorcycle when a driver approached a license checkpoint being conducted by deputies and left the bike on the side of the road and ran from the scene. The bike was reported stolen by Maurice Hines on March 16 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Hines also reported a 1995 Mercedes Benz stolen from the same incident and Chatham County deputies recovered it on March 21 when it was found in the Cape Fear River near Corinth.

Detective David McKee obtained a warrant for Timothy Person, 25, of 208 Brook Ave, Siler City after his investigation was conducted surrounding the motorcycle incident. On May 6, Robert Person Jr., 32, of 120 Fletcher Siler Road, Siler City was also arrested in connection with the same incident.

Detective McKee arrested Timothy Person on Thursday and charged him with felonious possession of a stolen motor vehicle. He was jailed under a $10,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Siler City on July 12.
