Moncure, NC - The Moncure post office was robbed by a man with a gun on Tuesday morning. The man got away with cash and money orders, the Chatham County Sheriff's Office reported.
The man entered the post office and asked about buying four money orders. When the clerk produced the money orders, he reached into his pants and pulled out a black pistol.
He took the money orders and an undisclosed amount of cash from the clerk and fled on foot running toward Old U.S. 1.
The suspect was described as a white male, about 45 years old and wearing a light colored T-shirt, tan pants, mustard colored hat with a large “G “ on it. He was wearing big glasses, was unshaven, with had a cut on his right hand. The robber is suspected of driving a white Mitsubishi with a paper Enterprise rental tag with black numbers.
The sheriff's department reports that the U.S. Postal Inspector will be in charge of the investigation.
No one was injured in the incident.
