The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the Special Incident Response Team (SIRT) and the State Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant on Thursday at 53 Haywood Road in Moncure; the residence of Roger “Cubby” Smith. The search was the result of an intense undercover drug operation that took several months to complete. Smith was arrested without incident and charged with the following charges:
* 5 counts of Felony Possession with intent to sell and deliver Cocaine
* 5 counts of Felony possession of Cocaine
* 2 counts of Felony maintaining a dwelling place to keep, use or store controlled substances
* 5 counts of Felony Selling Cocaine
* 5 counts of delivering Cocaine
The amount of drugs seized during the search was approximately 21 grams of Cocaine.
Others items seized:
$3,071.00 in cash and currency
Smith was jailed and was placed under a $150,000.00 secured bond. His court date is in Pittsboro district court on April 6.
