Bear Creek, NC - Chatham County deputies received the tip they needed in a series of ATV larcenies when they arrested a Sanford man in June. On April 23, a Yamaha four wheeler valued at $1,200 was reported stolen from the residence of Eddie Fields of Bear Creek; and on the same day Ronnie Cox, another Bear Creek resident, reported his Honda four wheeler stolen that was valued at $2,500.

Detectives have been working long hours in the investigation and received evidence that finally linked suspect Robbie Knight to the crimes. He was arrested and charged with two counts of felonious larceny and jailed under a $95,000 secured bond.

Although, Knight is not cooperating with officers, he is being looked at very closely in as many as 20 incidents where ATVs have been stolen in the last several months. Chatham Investigators are confident that more arrests will be made in the investigations. Knight is scheduled for Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on July 26.
