Graham man arrested on forgery charges

Graham, NC - Joseph Herring, 23, of 1650 East Main Street, Graham was arrested on Tuesday by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest was a result of a 3 week-long investigation conducted by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division.

Herring is accused of forging checks valued at more than $5303.00. A total of 16 checks were cashed and they were taken from Robert Thomas of Rives Chapel Road, Siler City between September and February.

Herring was arrested by Detective Mike Szpunar without incident and charged with 16 counts of Felonious Forgery and 7 counts of Felonious Uttering a Forged Endorsement.

He was released under a $5,000.00 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on March 8.
