Siler City police search for bank robbery suspect[Jun. 18, 2005] The Siler City Police Department is looking for a suspect who robbed the Fidelity Bank on Highway 64 Friday afternoon. A suspect in a bank robbery that happened Friday afternoon at the Fidelity Bank in Siler City. Police said a suspect handled a teller a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount of money at about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Sheriff's deputies make more drug arrests[Jun. 8, 2005] Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s ICE Team and Narcotics Unit made three drug arrests Tuesday after conducting a traffic stop near Moncure. Hector Hugo Calderas, 30 of 702 Sikes St., Chapel Hill, Katrina Jeanette Lassiter 29, of 393 Haywood Road, Moncure and Esau Hernandez Garcia 26, of 306 G-4 Estes Dr. Ext Carrboro were arrested after deputies stopped a vehicle on First Road in Haywood.
Traffic stop leads to drug arrest[Jun. 8, 2005] Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s ICE team arrested Bernardo Gonzalez Sanchez 33, of 1302 Woodland Avenue, Sanford on felony drug charges after a traffic stop was conducted on Hwy 42 and Corinth Road near Moncure. Officers seized more than 30 grams of cocaine and $1,100.00 in cash.
Deputies arrest B&E suspect[Jun. 8, 2005] Detectives from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a 22 year old Pittsboro man for Breaking Entering and Larceny following a joint investigation with the Siler City Police Department. The suspect was identified as Thomas Matthew Coore of Lystra Church Road, Pittsboro.
Two car accident sends four to hospital.[Jun. 7, 2005] Four people were taken to Central Carolina Hospital with non-life threatening injuries Monday morning after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 1. Paul Gouveia, 29, of Sanford, was driving a 1998 Dodge Intrepid in the northbound lane of U.S. 1. just north of the Pittsboro-Moncure exit. when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed into the left lane and struck a guard rail. The accident happened about 8:30 a.m.
Siler City man charged with sex offense[Jun. 6, 2005] An investigation into an alleged sexual assault was brought to a close on Friday, June 3, when Sgt. D.S. McKee arrested William Earl Pendergrass, 57, of 6433 Siler City Glendon Road, Siler City. Pendergrass is accused of entering a bedroom of an 18 year old victim and sexually assaulting her while she was resting.
Deputies arrest two on drug and alchohol charges[Jun. 6, 2005] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit and the Special Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at 713 Stockyard Road, Staley; the residence of Russell Lee Brooks, 72, after an undercover drug operation was completed at the residence. Brooks, along with Adrean Jordan, 64, of 1094 Lane Jordan Rd. Siler City were arrested for various drug and alcohol charges.
Deputies recover stolen property from church theft[Jun. 4, 2005] Investigators from Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the Carrboro Police Department are working to identify two suspects alleged to have broken into church property on Friday, June 03 shortly after 10 a.m. Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Solid Rock Baptist Church, located at 3903 US 64 West, Pittsboro after a witness saw two suspects breaking into church property.
Pittsboro man arrested on felony drug charges[May 30, 2005] Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pittsboro man on a felony drug charge after a traffic stop was conducted on US 15-501 and Mt. Gilead Church Road in Northern Chatham County. Deputy Bobby Lane arrested Michael Parks, 21, of 576 Hudson Woods Road, Pittsboro after a traffic stop for making an improper left turn.
Deputies arrest Efland man on drug charges[May 7, 2005] On May 5, The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit conducted an undercover drug operation at Cole Park Plaza in Northern Chatham County and arrested Jason Finch, 30, of 2430 Efland Cedar Grove Road, Efland on Felony Narcotics charges. Deputies recovered $400.00 in cash from Finch who was attempting to purchase 4 ounces of Marijuana from undercover agents of the Sheriff’s Office.
Two found shot to death in Carbonton[Apr. 25, 2005] Chatham County deputies responded to Little Indian Creek Road on Saturday to investigate an apparent homicide. A relative discovered the bodies of the Richard and Karen Brown around 9:30 a.m. Saturday at their house on Little Indian Creek Road near Carbonton. Both were husband and wife and appeared to have been shot to death some time last week.
Chatham Sheriff's Office identifies man found beaten near Jordan Lake[Apr. 23, 2005] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who was found naked and severely beaten near Jordan Lake Wednesday morning. After publicizing photos of a "Boss Hog" tattoo across the victim's back, investigators received unconfirmed information Thursday night that the victim was Martin Kyle Taylor-Brown of Augusta, Ga.
Identity of assault victim sought[Apr. 21, 2005] The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in identifying an assault victim that was found in Northern Chatham County this morning about 9:00 am. An unidentified nude Black male, light skin, between the ages of 25 and 35 was found near Eagle Point off of Hwy 751 near the Durham County line.
