Law enforcement seeks fatal hit-and-run information[Nov. 10, 2005] The state Highway Patrol is seeking information about a fatal hit-and-run accident Sunday on U.S. 421 between Siler City and Sanford. About 3 a.m. Sunday, a pickup truck hit a pedestrian standing on U.S. 421 near the entrance of the Sports Arena, said Trooper D.C. Pate. The driver didn't stop, and law enforcement is looking for the vehicle and its driver.
Siler City police investigate fatal shooting[Oct. 24, 2005] Siler City police are investigating the shooting death of a man found in a car Friday night. Police had not released the man's identity Sunday but said the man was found shortly after 10 p.m. in a car near Siler City's Brookwood Apartments.
Chatham deputies arrest Rameur woman with help from G105 radio listeners[Oct. 4, 2005] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office arrested Penny Culberson, 31, of 5624 Log Cabin Road, Ramseur after Randolph County Sheriff’s Office found her near Bennett and brought her to deputies on Friday. Deputies had been looking for her since mid-June after she failed to appear in Chatham County Court for a felony possession of cocaine charge. Culberson was one of two suspects that Sheriff Webster profiled on the Radio Station G105 out of Raleigh on Thursday September 22nd.
Sheriff's canine assists in Chapel Hill fraternity raid[Oct. 4, 2005] Chatham County ICE Team and Sheriff’s Canine “Meko” assisted Chapel Hill Vice/Narcotics Unit and the State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents in an early morning raid of a College fraternity last week. Officers searched a frat house on Pittsboro Street in Chapel Hill that they had information was illegal selling alcohol to minors and operating a bar without proper licenses.
Second man arrested for possessing stolen property[Oct. 4, 2005] The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Graham man for possession of a stolen trailer on Thursday. He is the second suspect to be arrested for the crime. On September 19, officers of the Pittsboro Police Department recovered a stolen flat bed single axle trailer valued at $1,250.00 at the residence of Dakarai Ramseur of 239 North Masonic Street in Pittsboro.
Man charged in Moncure stabbing death[Oct. 3, 2005] Around 2:00 am, Saturday morning, Chatham County Deputies responded to 460 North Drive in Moncure in reference to an assault that had occurred at that location. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 50-year-old white male that apparently lived at the same address deceased with multiple stab wounds. Deputies found the suspect, Daniel Reynolds, 45, at the residence and immediately placed in custody.
Siler City man charged with statutory rape[Sep. 25, 2005] A Siler City man was arrested on Thursday for six counts of statutory rape when he was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old child. Chatham County Deputies began working a runaway juvenile case last week when they received information that an underage female voluntarily got into a car driven by Juan Escalona.
Stolen tractor recovered, arrest made[Sep. 6, 2005] Chatham County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a Pittsboro man for possessing a stolen tractor. On September 1, deputies recovered a stolen John Deere Tractor from a resident in the Bear Creek area. The tractor was reported stolen by Tommy King of McLaurin Road, Bear Creek on October 4, 2002 and is valued at $18,000.00.
Man arrested after 135 mph vehicle chase[Aug. 26, 2005] Chatham County deputies arrested a Hubert man just after midnight on Wednesday after he refused to stop for a traffic violation. Deputy Tom D’Angelo attempted to stop William Boone, 21, of 110 Riggs Road, Hubert, North Carolina for an insurance violation in the Cole Park Plaza area of Chatham County.
Sheriff's office receives award[Aug. 22, 2005] Last week, Chatham County Sheriff Richard Webster accepted an award of grateful recognition for the Sheriff’s Office’s involvement in the Ride For Kids® campaign that was conducted on May 15. The non-profit foundation which operates the Ride For Kids® events across America is the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States. In 2000, the Foundation redoubled its efforts to expand its programs across the country and invites every motorcyclist in America to join in this very needed, and always fun event. This event raised more than $40,000.00.
Ice Team makes narcotics arrests[Aug. 21, 2005] Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) and Canine Units charged two people with drug violations after traffic stops were conducted on Friday. Deputies stopped Termaine Thompson, 23, of 2825 Carver Drive, Sanford on US 1 in Moncure and found 8 grams of Marijuana in his possession. Officers also stopped Michael Marsh, 42, of 61 Lee Street, Pittsboro on Friday on Hillsborough Street in Pittsboro and found 9.8 grams of Marijuana in his possession.
Stolen ATV recovered, arrest made[Aug. 10, 2005] Chatham County Deputies arrested a Siler City man for Felonious Larceny of a stolen ATV vehicle on Monday. On December 14, 2002, a Honda TRX 450 four wheeler valued at $8,000 was reported stolen from the residence of Elizabeth Binette located at 163 RC Overman Rd. in Siler City.
