Former Chatham County employee arrested on kickback case[Mar. 18, 2006] Randie Russell, 50, of 411 Greenhill Drive, Siler City, and a former Chatham County Animal Control employee was arrested on Thursday afternoon by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. Russell is accused of taking kickbacks from a Florida cleaning supply company in return for buying its products at inflated prices.
Sheriff's ICE team makes narcotics arrest[Mar. 18, 2006] Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) team charged an Apex man with drug violations after a traffic stop was conducted on Thursday. Deputies stopped Chad Clark, 29, of 42B West Chatham Street, Apex after he and another passenger pulled up to a checkpoint on Mount Gilead Church Road near Pittsboro.
Robbins woman arrested for B&E[Mar. 18, 2006] Russell Creason of Creason Road, Siler City reported to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office a breaking and entering to his residence on December 26. He stated that a Ruger 7MM Bolt Action rifle, valued at $700.00 was stolen.
Operation Safe Street conducted on Thursday evening[Mar. 18, 2006] Officers from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office took to the road for another round of Operation Safe Street Thursday night. While in the past deputies have concentrated on things such as criminal enforcement measures and warrant service, a different approach was used Thursday to help criminal investigators and drug agents in their roles.
Shooting suspect turns himself in[Mar. 16, 2006] Benjamin Uhlenberg, 25, of 804 Shady Lawn Road, Chapel Hill, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday for a shooting that occurred more than three months ago.
ABC store robbery suspect sought[Mar. 15, 2006] Chatham County Deputies are looking for a man who robbed the ABC Store on Governors Drive in Northern Chatham County on Monday evening.
Bonlee man arrested for auto theft[Mar. 9, 2006] The North Carolina State Highway Patrol recovered a stolen 1992 Honda Accord in Randolph County near Ramseur after investigating a traffic accident at that location. The vehicle was stolen earlier that morning from Troy Blankenship II of 114 South Tenth Avenue, Siler City.
Moncure man arrested for assault[Mar. 7, 2006] A Moncure man was arrested Saturday after Chatham County deputies responded to a disturbance call at 61 Wimberly Road, Moncure. Raelene Hearn reported that her husband, Duane Hearn, 42, strangled her in an altercation they had around 3:00 am early Saturday morning.
Graham man arrested on forgery charges[Mar. 7, 2006] Joseph Herring, 23, of 1650 East Main Street, Graham was arrested on Tuesday by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. The arrest was a result of a 3 week-long investigation conducted by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division.
Sheriff speaks to House Select Committee[Mar. 7, 2006] Sheriff Webster had the opportunity of speaking to a House Select Committee on Sex Offender Registration Laws on Tuesday, February 28. He spoke to the committee at the request of the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association about issues Sheriff’s across the state were having in reference to Sex Offender Registration Laws. The law, adopted in 1996, requires persons convicted of certain sex crimes to register with the Sheriff’s Office in the county where they reside.
Deputies search for missing person[Feb. 26, 2006] Chatham County deputies are looking for Robert Raybun, 49, of 30118-A Settle Drive, . He was last seen at his residence in northern Chatham County late last Friday night, February 17th, after a friend had dropped him off there. Deputies have searched the surrounding area with personnel and dogs and have not found any sign of Raybun.
Three store clerks arrested in Pittsboro[Feb. 20, 2006] Three people have been arrested in connection with an investigation at a Chatham County convenience store. Members of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, the Pittsboro Police Department and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Unit were investigating at the Snack Stop convenience store in Pittsboro after receiving reports of clerks selling alcohol to underage people.
