Chatham County detectives investigating death
[Feb. 26, 2007] Chatham County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the death of a Siler City woman who was found this morning. Colene Person, 53, of 220 Fletcher Siler Road, Siler City was found dead from apparent stab wounds in her home at approximately 7:30 this morning by her husband, Robert Person.

Sheriff charges Asheboro man with first degree rape
[Jan. 30, 2007] An Asheboro man has been arrested for Felonious First Degree Rape when he was accused of having forcible sex with a 25 year old Staley woman.

Pittsboro man charged with breaking and entering
[Jan. 27, 2007] A Pittsboro man has been arrested in connection with a breaking and entering that occurred on Silk Hope Gum Springs Road. Chatham County deputies investigated a suspicious vehicle near 4534 Silk Hope Gum Springs Road early Monday morning and found Jennifer Elixson, 19, of 11726 US 64 West Pittsboro asleep in the passenger side. While officers were conducting their investigation, Christopher Teague, 27, of 4640 Silk Hope Gum Springs Road, Pittsboro was coming out of a wooded area with a flashlight strapped to his forehead.

Deputies arrest Siler City man on drug charges
[Jan. 19, 2007] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, Special Incident Response Team (SIRT) and ICE Team conducted a narcotics operation and search located at 2019 Staley-Snow Camp Road, Siler City; the residence of Eric Curl, 26. Officers recovered Cocaine, Methadone, Marijuana, Oxycodone and drug paraphernalia during the search.

Two more arrested on felony assault & larceny case
[Oct. 20, 2006] Chatham County deputies arrested two more men after investigating an assault and robbery report on September 19. On Monday, October 16th, Investigators arrested Cecil Hickox, 30, of 130 Ward Road, Staley and Steven Fields, 27, of 317 North Dogwood Avenue, Siler City.

Sanford man arrested after high-speed chase
[Oct. 20, 2006] A Sanford man was arrested Friday morning after a high-speed chase ended with the suspect crashing his vehicle near a church on Harrison Place in Chatham County. Stacy Mark Mansfield, 21, of 1921 Tramway Road, Sanford, was arrested and charged with felonious fleeing to elude arrest, failing toyield to blue lights and siren, reckless driving and several other driving charges.

Narcotics officers arrest two on felony drug charges
[Oct. 19, 2006] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, the Sheriff’s ICE Team and the Special Incident Response Team executed a search warrant on Thursday evening at 134 Hinton Road, Chapel Hill; the residence of Willie Leon Burnette, 53, after an undercover drug operation was completed at the residence.
