Siler City man killed, arrest made[Jul. 6, 2006] At 4:50 PM, on Monday afternoon, Chatham County Deputies responded to 5475 Old US 421 South, Bear Creek in response to an assault call. When deputies arrived they found, Darrle Harris, 38, of 240 Alex Watson Road, Siler City seriously injured from blunt trauma to the head.
Two arrested for Bynum B&E[Jun. 28, 2006] Two men have been arrested in connection with a breaking and entering that occurred on Tuesday near Bynum. Alex McKinney, 27, of 199 South Small Street, Pittsboro and Joel Currie, 28, of 358 Brittany Lane, Chapel Hill were arrested as a result of an investigation conducted by Detective Latisha Allen of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
Goldston man arrested after shooting[Jun. 27, 2006] A Goldston man was arrested after allegedly shooting another man in the chest. Vincent David Pendarvis, 45, of 154 Penn Haven Road was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury after the incident at 169 Walnut Lane in Goldston.
North Carolina sex offender registration program[Jun. 25, 2006] On January 1, 1996, the North Carolina General Assembly created North Carolina's first Sex Offender Registration Law, known as the "Amy Jackson Law." In 1998 and 2001 North Carolina's Sex Offender Registration Program was rewritten to comply with the standards enunciated under the Jacob Wetterling and Megan and Pam Lyncher Laws.
Cemeteries vandilized in North Chatham[Jun. 20, 2006] Two Chatham County cemeteries have been vandalized last week and investigators feel the two are connected. On Friday, a representative of Mt. Pleasant Church off of 269 Mann’s Chapel Road, Pittsboro reported to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office that 78 head stones of graves were pushed over or broken. On Monday, a representative of Lystra Baptist Church, of 686 Lystra Road, Chapel Hill reported 149 Cemetery head stones were damaged at their cemetery.
Kidnapping suspects arrested in Chatham County[Mar. 30, 2006] Three dangerous fugitives were arrested on Wednesday morning after an intense investigation that originated in Robeson County came to a close. The U. S. Marshalls notified the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office that they were investigating an Armed Robbery-Kidnapping of a teenage boy on Monday and they had received information that they were in Chatham County.
Deputies arrest Bear Creek man on drug charges[Mar. 29, 2006] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit conducted a month long undercover drug operation in the Bear Creek area and arrested Marcus Craven, 35, of 799 May’s Chapel Road, Bear Creek on Felony Narcotics charges on Thursday.
Chatham stores cited for underaged alcohol sales[Mar. 29, 2006] The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office conducted an undercover alcohol violations operation across Chatham County last week and out of 9 stores, 4 sold alcohol to an under aged person. In Northern Chatham County, all three stores sold alcohol to a 20-year-old minor during the operation.
Bynum woman arrested on drug charges[Mar. 24, 2006] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit arrested Candace Abagail White-Clark, 25, of 334 Bynum Church Road, Bynum on Tuesday afternoon. Clark was charged with 2 counts of Felonious Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substances and 2 counts of Felonious Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
Lillington man arrested on drug charges[Mar. 23, 2006] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office arrested Milan Rowe Jr., 52, of 629 Bayles Road, Lillington on a felony cocaine charge Wednesday morning. The arrest was a result of an investigation into a cell phone call from a concerned citizen that a man was slumped over the wheel of a gray minivan on Hwy 42 near Corinth.
Two arrested for breaking and entering[Mar. 23, 2006] Two men have been arrested in connection with a Breaking and Entering that occurred at 241 Graham Moore Road, Staley. On February 2, Joyce Goldston of 241 Graham Moore Road, Staley reported the break in of her residence to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
Graham man arrested on forgery charges[Mar. 21, 2006] Chatham County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested Joseph Herring, 23, of Graham, North Carolina on a Felony Larceny charge pursuant to an incident that occurred in February. The original case was reported to the Sheriff’s Office last month when deputies responded to a report of a larceny of several items that included scrap metal, a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun and several checks from the residence of Robert Thomas of Rives Chapel Road, Siler City.
