Two more arrested on felony assault & larceny case
[Oct. 20, 2006] Chatham County deputies arrested two more men after investigating an assault and robbery report on September 19. On Monday, October 16th, Investigators arrested Cecil Hickox, 30, of 130 Ward Road, Staley and Steven Fields, 27, of 317 North Dogwood Avenue, Siler City.

Sanford man arrested after high-speed chase
[Oct. 20, 2006] A Sanford man was arrested Friday morning after a high-speed chase ended with the suspect crashing his vehicle near a church on Harrison Place in Chatham County. Stacy Mark Mansfield, 21, of 1921 Tramway Road, Sanford, was arrested and charged with felonious fleeing to elude arrest, failing toyield to blue lights and siren, reckless driving and several other driving charges.

Narcotics officers arrest two on felony drug charges
[Oct. 19, 2006] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, the Sheriff’s ICE Team and the Special Incident Response Team executed a search warrant on Thursday evening at 134 Hinton Road, Chapel Hill; the residence of Willie Leon Burnette, 53, after an undercover drug operation was completed at the residence.

Sex offender charged for failing to register
[Aug. 25, 2006] A Siler City native was arrested on Wednesday for failing to register as a sex offender. Larry Fout, 49, formerly of 1715 Wrenn Smith Road, Siler City was arrested by Chatham County Sheriff’s Deputy Rickard Bourke after he turned himself in to authorities.

Former NC State forward Marcus Melvin arrested
[Aug. 8, 2006] A former basketball player at NC State was arrested Monday after he turned himself in to Chatham County Deputies. On August 4, Shaunes Deberry of Durant Apartments, Chapel Hill, reported that her boyfriend, Marcus Melvin, 24, of 3101 Long Meadow Ct., Raleigh strangled her in an altercation they had on the morning of August 1.

North Chatham woman charged with sex crime against 2-year-old
[Jul. 28, 2006] An investigation into an alleged sexual assault was brought to a close on Wednesday, when Detective Mike Szpunar arrested Rebecca Stutts, 31, of 2267 Mann’s Chapel Road, Chapel Hill. Stutts is accused of committing a sex offense against a 2 ½ year old child.
