Chatham deputies recover over $1.3 million in cocaine
[Jul. 1, 2007] The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit, the Special Incident Response Team (SIRT), and officers from the Greensboro Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant late Friday and early Saturday morning at 256 Ellis Road near Moncure after an undercover drug operation was completed at the residence.

Suspect arrested in North Chatham murder
[Jun. 28, 2007] Chatham County Investigators have arrested a Durham man for the murder of a North Chatham woman who was found in her home more than 6 weeks ago. On Saturday, May12, Chatham County deputies responded to Red Pine Road in Northern Chatham County to inquire on the well-being of a woman who her parents said haven’t heard from her in several days. Around 9:10 am, deputies found the body of a white female, later identified as Tracy Lynn Baldwin, 38, of 29 Red Pine Road, Chapel Hill.

Siler City man arrested for breaking and entering
[May 27, 2007] The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Siler City man on Tuesday in reference to a Breaking and Entering that occurred at the Silk Hope Service Station on May 16. A suspect broke into the service station in the early hours last Wednesday and stole approximately $300 dollars worth of scratch off Lottery tickets.

Gunman robs Moncure post office
[Apr. 25, 2007] The Moncure post office was robbed by a man with a gun on Tuesday morning. The man got away with cash and money orders, the Chatham County Sheriff's Office reported. The man entered the post office and asked about buying four money orders. When the clerk produced the money orders, he reached into his pants and pulled out a black pistol.

Chatham deputy killed in car crash
[Apr. 11, 2007] An off-duty Chatham County sheriff's deputy was killed early Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident. Deputy Aaron Gabriel Whitaker, 24, of N.C. Highway 42 in Carbonton, was off-duty when he was involved in an accident in Moore County at about 2:45 a.m.

Pittsboro man charged with larceny from a construction site
[Apr. 10, 2007] Chatham County Deputies arrested a Pittsboro man for stealing copper wire from a construction site. Captain Roy Allen was working special assignment at the “Parks of Meadowview” subdivision off of old Highway 87.

Sheriff's office makes felony drug arrest
[Mar. 13, 2007] Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pittsboro man on a felony drug charge on the morning of March 5th after a traffic stop was conducted on Big Woods Road near Jordan Lake. The stop was the result of deputies looking for a wanted man from Orange County. The subject of the stop did not have a driver’s license.

Philadelphia man arrested on sex charges
[Mar. 6, 2007] A ten month long investigation involving a sexual assault to a 15 year old minor child has lead to the arrest of a Philadelphia man on Wednesday, February 28th. Mark Anthony Randall, 44, of 1304 Conesagto Street, Philadelphia was arrested by Philadelphia Police Department after discovering that Chatham County Deputies were looking for him since last year.
