Pittsboro, NC - On January 31, Jose Augusto Neave, 28, of 7 Beech Road, Chapel Hill was arrested by Trooper Davis of the North Carolina Highway Patrol for the following charges: felony hit and run, misdemeanor death by vehicle, failing to report an accident, driving while license revoked and failing to appear in court.

The arrest was the result of an investigation by the State Highway Patrol and the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office into the hit and run death of David Nobles, 28, of 3268 Farrington Point Road in Chatham County.

Pursuant to General Statute 162-62, a recent immigration law that requires local detention facilities to inquire on subject who are not citizens of the United States; the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office has determined that Neave is in the US legally and is considered a Resident Alien.

He was jailed under no bond at this time and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on March 5.
