Gulf man charged with rape and kidnapping

Gulf, NC - Chatham County investigators arrested a Gulf man after an investigation pursuant to an alleged sexual assault. Deputies met with the female victim at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office in Pittsboro and spoke to the subject who stated she was assaulted by her estranged husband, Antonio Headen, 28, of 862 Thrift Road, Gulf.

The victim stated that she separated with Headen about three weeks ago but still went to his home to watch their son while he went to work. After she arrived at the residence, Headen attacked her and sexually assaulted her in front of the child.

Deputy Martha del Cid, Detective Mike Copeland and Detective Ed Fawcett initiated an investigation on the incident and charged Headen with Felonious Second Degree Sexual Offense, Felonious Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon with a Minor Present, Assault on a Female, Interfere with Emergency Communications, and Communicating Threats. He was at Bish Metal Shop in Siler City and jailed under no bond.
