Pittsboro, NC — A Greensboro man has been arrested on charges of statutory rape after being accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl in southwestern Chatham County.
Lereece Justin Smith, 21, of Greensboro was charged Monday with two counts of statutory rape and sexual battery.
Chatham County deputies began working the case in July of 2008 after the incident was reported to patrol deputies. Smith is accused of having non-consensual sex with the girl.
The Siler City Police Department also charged Smith with rape in connection with an incident there. Details of that arrest weren’t available. Smith was placed in the Chatham County Jail under $500,000 secured bond.
