Sheriff's ICE team makes narcotics arrest

Pittsboro, NC - Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) team charged an Apex man with drug violations after a traffic stop was conducted on Thursday. Deputies stopped Chad Clark, 29, of 42B West Chatham Street, Apex after he and another passenger pulled up to a checkpoint on Mount Gilead Church Road near Pittsboro.

Deputies observed a subject throw what later was discovered to be marijuana wrapped in a paper towel out the window. Officers seized about 3 grams of marijuana and cited Clark on those charges.

He was also arrested on existing warrants for various other narcotics related charges as well. He was arrested pursuant to warrants for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Hashish, Possession of Oxycodone and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $2,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on April 26.
