Deputies arrest Bear Creek man on drug charges

On September 15, The Chatham County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit with the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation, executed a search warrant at 4407 Old US 421, Bear Creek; the residence of Herbert Junior Hayes, 47. The 3- month long investigation lead investigators to believe that a Meth Lab could possible be at that location, but the search of the premises found no items consistent with a Meth Lab. Hayes was arrested and charged with the following charges:

5 counts of Felony Possession with intent to sell and deliver Methamphetamine
5 counts of Felony Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine
5 counts of Felony maintaining a dwelling place to keep, use or store controlled substances
Felony possession of Firearm by a Felon
Items seized: Jennings 22 caliber pistol and $980.00 in cash and currency

Hayes was placed under a $30,000.00 secured bond.
