Pittsboro, NC - Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Criminal Enforcement Team arrested a Chapel Hill woman on several drug charges last week after a traffic checkpoint was conducted on Big Woods Road and Jack Bennett Road in Northeast Chatham County.

Deputies stopped the driver and detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. After a search was conducted, deputies found 17 grams of Marijuana and 8 grams of Psilocybin (Mushrooms).

Corporal Chris Marioles arrested Erin Carter, 24, of 340 Vickers Road, Chapel Hill for Felony Possession of Psilocybin, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was released under a $2,500.00 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro.
