Pittsboro, NC - A Chatham County man died after his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer rig Friday morning near Pittsboro.
A 1994 Nissan pickup truck driven by Harry Sugg, 73, of Pittsboro was traveling north on N.C. 751 at 8:22 a.m. Friday when his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer rig driven by Roderick Perry, 42, of Kinghtdale, according to a report from Trooper L. Lineberry of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Perry swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle turning left onto N.C. 751, crossed the center line and struck Sugg’s vehicle. Sugg was pronounced dead at the scene.
Perry was not injured. He was charged with driving left of center and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, Lineberry said.
