Chapel Hill woman arrested in robbery case

Chatham County deputies arrested a Chapel Hill woman today in connection with a robbery that occurred off of Pumphouse Loop, Chapel Hill in Northern Chatham County in June of this year. Crystal Kennedy, W/F, of Suite B Kingswood Apts., Chapel Hill was charged with Common Law Robbery, False Imprisonment and Injury to Personal Property after deputies investigated an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of June 4, 2004.

Robert Harrison alleged that Kennedy assisted in a robbery of over $3,000.00 from his person in a residence located at 162 Pumphouse Loop near Cole Park Plaza. Harrison stated that he and Kennedy went to the residence under the pretense of picking up some clothes for her, after arriving, he was met by two other subjects that took the money from him and slashed his tires. He had just received the money from a family friend to assist him with rent money.

Deputies are still looking for the other two assailants. Kennedy was arrested after a traffic stop conducted by Officer Webster of the Carrboro Police Department. She was jailed under a $10,000.00 secured bond and her court date is October 27.
