Anna Marie Milliken of Pittsboro and UNC-Wilmington, died Aug 1 from injuries sustained in a vehicle crash in Chatham County. She was
21.
She graduated from Northwood High School in Pittsboro in 2002 and was a rising senior at UNC-Wilmington. While home from college, she worked for Allen & Son Pit Cooked Bar-B-Q in Bynum. She attended Lystra Baptist Church.
She was killed in a one-car accident early Tuesday morning on Lystra Road, approximately 9.5 miles north of Pitts-boro, according to reports from the NC Highway Patrol.
Anna Marie Milliken of 116 Tarheel Lane was traveling west on Lystra Road in a 1994 Mazda when she crossed the cen-terline, ran off the road to the left and struck a tree.
There were no passengers in the car.
According to the NCHP report the road was curving and steep where the accident occurred.
The report stated that the driver’s car caught fire following the crash.
