A body found in a Siler City creek has been identified as a 73-year-old man who was reported missing for months.

Police were called to the creek area behind Hart's Furniture Warehouse on Sunday.

The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill where it was identified as James "JD" Fikes.

Fikes' family reported him missing on Aug. 30. He was last seen at Love's Creek Mobile Home Park. His daughter had gone to pick him up from a doctor's appointment and he was not there.
