Bear Creek man arrested for breaking and entering

Bear Creek, NC - Chatham County sheriff's deputies have arrested a Bear Creek man in connection with a July 31 break-in.

Sheriff's Deputy Nick Prieto responded to the scene and began investigating the case. With the assistance of the homeowner, the deputy later identified Joseph Craig Kelly, 21, of 13842 SR 902, Bear Creek as a suspect. It was determined that a digital camera and a coin collection were stolen. Kelly was later located and arrested on charges of felonious breaking and entering, felonious larceny and injury to property.

Kelly is accused of breaking into the home of Barry Dark on July 31.

Kelly was placed in the Lee County Jail under $5,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Aug. 17.
