Chatham County, NC - An Asheboro man has been arrested for Felonious First Degree Rape when he was accused of having forcible sex with a 25 year old Staley woman.

Chatham County Sheriff’s Detectives began working the case last September when they received information from the victim of the incident. She advised deputies that on September 9th, Genaro Garcia Escobar, 34, of 3855 Mechanic Road, Asheboro threatened to kill her with a machete and forced himself on her at his residence on Charlie Cooper Road, Staley.

He was also charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and False Imprisonment. He was jailed under a $150,000.00 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on January 29.
