Siler City, NC - Investigators from the Chatham County Sheriff's Office made an arrest in the investigation of a shooting that left one man dead in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 1. The incident occurred just outside of Siler City at a residence located at 1636 Siler City Snow Camp Road shortly before 3 a.m. The victim has was identified as 38 year old Demetrius Elliot Headen of Scotton Matthews Drive, Siler City.
Early in the investigation, authorities arrested Xavier Pierre Walker, 42 of 1818 North Chatham Avenue, Siler City for Felony Possession of a Firearm By a Convicted Felon. He was placed under a $200,000 secured bond on June 1, 2014 and held in the Chatham County Jail. He has been in custody since that time. During the investigation, Mr. Walker became a person of interest in the case.
On Thursday, July 10, 2014 investigators charged Mr. Walker with First Degree Murder and Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon. He is being held with no bond on these two charges. After a first appearance this morning in Chatham County District Court, Walker is scheduled to appear in Chatham County Court again on Monday, August 21.
