Thompson offers no endorsements in county commission race

Point of Clarification

Pittsboro, NC - Recently I made comments regarding the contributions that Jeffrey Starkweather and Sally Kost have made to Chatham County. These comments were publicized by their campaign, with my permission. Even though I stand by this statement, I did make it clear that my comment was not intended to be a public endorsement. Upon review of an e-mail flyer that was distributed by their campaign, I believe they used integrity in trying not to suggest an endorsement by implication.

I do however feel that as a current board of commissioner member and former chair, that I need to clarify my position, so that there is no public misconception as to my intentions. It is my opinion that both Starkweather and Kost have contributed much to the betterment of Chatham County, without a doubt. I would also maintain that Patrick Barnes, Mike Cross and Armentha Davis have leadership skills and strengths that have contributed to making our county a better place as well.

My main focus remains on working to address the important issues that the people of this county face every day, and making the best decisions possible on their behalf. I stand ready to work enthusiastically and wholeheartedly with whoever wins in November.
