Why are you the best candidate for Clerk of Court?
I am the best qualified candidate for the office of the Clerk of Superior Court in Chatham County.
As Clerk, I am judge, record keeper, administrator and comptroller. The Clerk of Superior Court is an important element of the North Carolina judicial system and vital to the local administration of justice in Chatham County. I am foremost a judge who hears matters involving the probate of wills, administration of estates, guardianships, incompetents, foreclosures, partitions of land, adoptions and other matters on a daily basis. I have the knowledge, ability and judicial temperament to consider all of the evidence presented in such matters and render fair decisions for those affected.
The Clerk is responsible for filing, indexing, and processing thousands of estate, special proceeding, civil and criminal records each year for the judicial system in Chatham County. I am familiar with these recordkeeping obligations and have managed to utilize limited space and resources for many years.
The Clerk as administrator is charged with the responsibility for supervising assistant and deputy clerkâs in the provision of services to the public and the Court system. I have the knowledge, skill and managerial experience to supervise this office and have done so successfully for 31 years.
Lastly, the Clerk is responsible for the receipt and disbursement of millions of dollars in fines, court costs, civil judgments, the estates of decedents, minors, and incompetents. I have the financial knowledge and experience to responsibly manage these funds as a fiduciary.
I bring with me a knowledgeable staff who are friendly and courteous.
