[Feb. 9, 2005] On behalf of the citizens of Chatham County who firmly believe that government should do its business openly; who want their elected representatives to act responsibly and fairly; who believe that good government is one that includes its citizens and values the input made by its citizens who are the ones most impacted by commissioner’s decisions; - we hereby request the following: All documents which support and/or related to Chairman Bunkey Morgan’s proposal to change the impact fee from a county-uniform fee of $1,500 to a fee ranging from $4,000 to zero in four districts across Chatham County. [May 13, 2004] F.A.C.T. is hosting two Candidate's Forums, the first will be for School Board, beginning at 7:30 PM on Thursday evening, May 20, in the multi-purpose room at CCCC's Pittsboro campus. Questions you want answered can be submitted in advance by email to Questions@chathamfact.com; by snail mail to F.A.C.T., PO Box 1548, Pittsboro, 27312; or written on cards available to those who attend the forum(s). County Commissioner candidates will have their turn on Thursday, June 10, same time and place, questions can be submitted in advance in the same manner. By Sam White

[Apr. 27, 2004] The Chatham Coalition, a grass-roots political action committee supporting smart growth and more open and responsive local government in Chatham County, did not wait much past the opening bell to start its county commissioner and school board candidate endorsement process. Tuesday, a day after the opening of the election filing period, the Coalition sent each candidate in both races a detailed questionnaire based on the Coalition’s just released issues platform. [Mar. 21, 2004] A coalition of Chatham County community organizations and citizens announced today the formation of an umbrella election committee, Chatham Coalition, that will support local candidates who back their platform of smart growth, quality economic development, excellent schools and open government that encourages citizen participation.
