Hackney “hacks off” local GOP
[May 23, 2007] Republicans in Speaker of the House Joe Hackney’s district are sounding off today about Hackney’s move to kill the Defense of Marriage Amendment yesterday. The House Rules Committee approved the Defense of Marriage Act yesterday, sending it to the House Floor. This bill, if approved by the House and Senate, would put a constitutional amendment on the North Carolina ballot that would guarantee that marriage in North Carolina could only be defined as being between one man and one woman. Chatham County Democratic party elects new officers
[Apr. 16, 2007] The sound of 140 voices singing "America the Beautiful" wafted from the old courthouse in Pittsboro Saturday morning, April 14, as ninty-six delegates and their guests assembled for the Chatham County Democratic Party Convention. Delegates came from Chatham County's eighteen precincts and joined with elected officials and other guests to talk and meet at this annual Chatham County Democratic Party (CCDP) gathering. Chatham County Democrats vote to fund Young Democrats
[Aug. 18, 2006] The Executive Committee of the Chatham County Democratic Party has voted to give $1500 to The Young Democrats of Chatham County to help it recruit new members and to work on community projects of special interest to young people. The grant is conditioned on the chapter’s affiliating with the state organization, North Carolina Young Democrats, by September 1.
