Chatham Democrats accepting nominations for the board of elections

Pittsboro, NC - The Chatham County Democratic party nominating committee for the Board of Elections is ready to review resumes and to interview candidates for the two positions for the Board of Elections.

Below is a list of the qualifications and expectations sought to help with evaluating the skills & job experiences needed for the position.

Background and Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Law: Analysis, interpretation and application of Federal or State laws, regulations and guidelines.
• Project management: Leadership role in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and evaluation of projects.
• Cost Analysis: Breakdown of project costs and reporting of annual, five-year and ten-year cost projections. Cost comparison and evaluation of product choices.
• Budgeting: Planning budgets based on multiple factors, such as personnel, equipment, supplies and fixed costs.
• Database Systems: Management of user-based computer systems, managing factors such as security, performance, concurrency, integrity, and recovery.
• Personnel Supervision: Training, oversight, evaluation and supervision of staff.


• Establish formal mechanisms for public notification and citizen input.
• Establish guidelines to allow a question and answer period at public meetings.
• Oversight of the website, for currency and public information.
• Solicit input from party chairs over the appointment of precinct officials, drawing of precinct lines and any matters concerning changes to election structure and application of state election laws and regulations.
• Undergo periodic training as needed.
• Awareness of national voting issues.
• Regular communication with the Democratic Party Executive Committee.


• $300/month for Chairman
• $200/month for other members
• Travel expenses for training
