JAMES WHITEHEAD

SILER CITY - James Cletus Whitehead, 92, of 900 West Dolphin St. died Saturday (2/12/05) at Sunbridge Care Facilities.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glendon Christian Church in Glendon with the Rev. Jack Phillips and the Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Whitehead was a native of Alamance County, was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a retired owner and operator of Siler City Tire Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Street Whitehead.

Survivors are: sisters-in-law Jeanne H. Street, and Candace Street Simmons, both of Glendon; three nephews; 11 nieces; and several cousins.

Arrangements are by Smith and Bruckner Funeral Home.

MARY SMITH

PITTSBORO - Mary Olivia Mann Smith, 99, died Saturday (2/12/05) in Hospice at Meadowlands in Hillsborough.

She was a native of Chatham County. She and her husband, Alton B. Smith (deceased), lived in Tucson, Ariz., but moved back to Chatham County in 1976. She was a registered nurse.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Edwards officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Survivors are: sisters Blanch Strowd of Chapel Hill and Hazel Ray of Chesapeake, Va.; sister-in-law, Inez Mann of Pittsboro; brother-in-law Don Stentz of Monterey, Calif.; 16 nieces and nephews; 30 great-nieces and nephews; and 33 great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are by Griffin Funeral Service and Cremation.

MARY OLIVIA MANN SMITH

Mary Olivia Mann Smith, 99, of Pittsboro, died Saturday (02-12-05) in Hospice at Meadowlands in Hillsborough.

She was a native of Chatham County and a registered nurse.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Monday, (02-14-05) in Cedar Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include sisters, Blanche Strowd of Chapel Hill, and Hazel Ray of Chesapeake, Va.
