SILER CITY - Inez Elizabeth Self McMath, 90, of 521 South Sixth Ave., died at her home Friday (2/11/05).

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Loves Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Helms officiating. Burial will be in Love's Creek Baptist Cemetery.

McMath was a native of Chatham County, a member of Love's Creek Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark B. McMath.

Survivors are: sons Larry McMath and wife, Hilda, of Siler City, and Wayne McMath and wife, Hazel, of Goldston; brother Rufus Self and wife, Dot, of Burlington; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 tonight at the Smith and Bruckner Funeral Home and at other times at the family home.

Memorials made be sent to: Love's Creek Baptist Church Bus Fund, 146880 U.S. Highway 64 West, Siler City, N.C. 27344.

Arrangements are by Smith and Bruckner Funeral Home.


PITTSBORO - Ruffus Allen Raines, 61, of 406 Guthrie Road, died Friday (2/11/05) at Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. George Headen officiating.

Survivors include: wife Brina of the home; daughter Lula Wiggins of Wake Forest; stepson Iran Headen of Pittsboro; stepdaughters Debra Brewer of Pittsboro and Sindy Headen of Sanford; brothers Percey Raines of Queens, N.Y., James Raines and wife, Bell, of Durham, Clarence Raines and wife, Linda, of Raleigh, Levander Smith and wife, Rosa, of New Hill and Charles Raines and wife, Javalan, of Sanford; sisters, Mabel Edwards, Margie Brown and husband, Robert, all of Durham, and Mary Morgan of Willow Springs.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Arrangements are by Horton Funeral Home.


Earl Buckner, 87 of Siler City, died Friday, (02-11-05) at Universal Health Care in Ramseur.

Graveside services were held at 11 am on Monday, (02-14-05) at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Cemetery, Siler City with Rev. Wayne Bryson and Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating.

Mr. Buckner was a native of Chatham County; attended Harmony Baptist Church, and was a member of American Legion Post #93 and the NC Retired Government Employee’s Association.

Survivors include his wife, Cornelia Smith Buckner of the home; step-sons, O’Carroll Buckner, Thomas Coward, both of Siler City; step-daughter, Sara C. Culberson of Siler City, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
