Siler City, NC – So far the North Carolina Lottery has handed out three big checks to “Sizzlin’ Millionaire Raffle” top prize winners. Two players who purchased just one ticket each have claimed their prizes of $1 million each. Another player claimed his $100,000 prize.

Jenna Davis of Siler City and Allison Welch of Mebane were the first to visit the lottery’s headquarters to collect their $1 million prizes following Wednesday’s drawing. Both players said they discovered they had winning tickets this morning.

“I had forgotten that I had the ticket,” Davis said. She added that she took the ticket out of her wallet and looked at the numbers on WRAL’s web page. She said, “That can’t be right. I’ve never won anything.”

As for Welch, she said her husband checked the North Carolina Lottery web page and discovered they had also purchased a winning ticket. “He likes to play around a lot but this time I could tell he wasn’t playing,” Welch said.

She told North Carolina Lottery employees that she bought three different newspapers to check the winning numbers. Both players said they have not decided what they will do with their winnings

Brian Lantzy of Lexington came to Raleigh to collect his $100,000 “Sizzlin’ Millionaire Raffle” prize. Lantzy said he discovered he was holding a winning ticket Tuesday. “I looked on the web page (NCEL) yesterday and saw the number,” Lantzy said. “I had to look at it 20 times.”

Two other $1 million winners and four $100,000 winners have yet to claim their raffle prizes. A steady stream of players who won one of the $1,000 prizes have been picking up their checks at the North Carolina Lottery claim centers across the state. There are 500 prizes of $1,000.
