Perry Harrison holds geography bee

Pittsboro, NC - For the twentieth year, the National Geographic Society is sponsoring the National Geographic Bee for students in the fourth through eighth grades in thousands of schools across the United States. Perry Harrison School has participated each year since the school opened in 1997.

Perry Harrison School Georgraphy Bee

The 2008 Harrison Geographic Bee was held on in the school gym on Tuesday, January 8. Individual competitors had either won classroom level competitions in social studies classes or homerooms. The school winner was Jordan Williams, an eighth grader. The runner-up was Evan Darden, a sixth grader. An example of a question asked was: Name the independent country located entirely within the city of Rome. The answer: Vatican City

Participants were Jordan Williams, Daniel Rudesill, Dionna Bright, Karen Koch, Evan Darden, Jack Teague, Kerry Smith, Britt Tripp, Courtney Cleveland, Ellie Frost, Justus Thompson, and Jack Dalton. Faculty member Charles Brantley coordinated the Harrison Geographic Bee.
