Siler City, NC- On August 18, 2008, the Board of Directors welcomed Ronald Garcia-Fogarty as Executive Director of The Hispanic Liaison. The Hispanic Liaison is a grassroots community based, nonprofit organization founded in 1995. The mission of EVH is to foster cultural understanding among Latinos/as and other residents of Chatham County, North Carolina, and to empower Hispanics to overcome the challenges they face as immigrants and find their voice in the community.
Mr. Garcia-Fogarty comes to us from Nicaragua where he served as the Project Manager and Network Facilitator for Health Unlimited. He brings over a decade of diverse experience in social and economic justice organizations.
He has extensive experience in staff and board coordination, grassroots organizing, public speaking and presentations, political and economic analysis, financial management, internet-based communications, and interpreting and translating. Mr. Garcia-Fogarty was born and raised in Guatemala and Nicaragua to a Nicaraguan born father and US born mother.
He has a BA in Economics from Vassar College in New York, and a Masters Degree in International Development from American University, in Washington, DC. He is moving to Chatham County with his Georgia-born wife, and Nicaraguan-born 3-year old son.
As the Executive Director, Mr. Garcia-Fogarty will lead the work that The Hispanic Liaison staff has been developing in Chatham County and beyond for over 13 years. He will also work closely with the board to promote the mission of the organization, and to develop close working relationships with leaders and allies from the community.
